World Oceans DaylGuarding the Blue with Us

This year’s World Oceans Day and National Oceans Awareness Day focus on “Protecting the Marine Ecosystem and Harmonious Coexistence between People and Nature.” The aim is to raise global awareness about the oceans’ vital role in climate regulation and promote effective measures for marine environment protection and the preservation of a healthy ecosystem. These events emphasize the importance of understanding and safeguarding the oceans, urging individuals worldwide to take action for their conservation and sustainability.

The ocean sustains life, offers valuable resources, and unites us in a shared destiny. As inhabitants of this blue planet, let us join forces to combat marine pollution and protect our precious blue realm. Together, we can safeguard its future.

1.Marine Pollution Hazards: assessing the current situation

Marine ecosystems suffer from destructive impacts caused by the introduction of harmful substances, resulting in pollution that damages biological resources and poses threats to human health. Fishing and other activities at sea also hinder seawater and environmental quality.1 The persistent, widespread, and challenging-to-control nature of marine pollution stems from its multiple sources.2 Over the past decades, rapid global industrialization has intensified marine pollution, leading to significant ecological changes in local areas and a concerning trend of continual expansion.

China, a maritime powerhouse, boasts 18,000 km of coastline, numerous seaport cities, and a third of its land mass dedicated to marine territory.3 Despite its global prominence in marine life diversity, marine renewable energy, and oil resources, China faces escalating marine pollution due to rapid urbanization and population growth. The decline of fisheries and the surge of natural disasters have spurred contemplation on effective management strategies for the marine environment.

2. Origins of Marine pollutants

1.Oil pollution
Oil pollution poses severe threats to marine life, as oil films or condensations can adhere to fish eggs or larvae, causing their death or deformities. Additionally, fish and shrimp may emit a pungent odor as a result of exposure to oil contamination.4

2.Metals and acids/bases
Metals such as chromium, manganese, iron, copper, zinc, silver, cadmium, antimony, mercury, lead, phosphorus, arsenic, etc., and acids/bases have detrimental effects on marine life, causing toxicity, reduced growth, reproductive issues, and even death. These pollutants disrupt the delicate balance of marine ecosystems and pose a significant threat to the well-being of marine organisms.5

3.Pesticides, organic waste, and domestic sewage
Pesticides, organic waste liquids, and domestic sewage enter the ocean primarily through runoff, exerting strong toxic effects on marine organisms. In severe cases, organic and domestic wastewater can trigger harmful red tide occurrences.6 In China’s near-shore waters, over 300 red tide incidents have been recorded since 1980, with one lasting 72 days in 1989, resulting in economic losses nearing 100 million yuan.

4.Plastic waste and plastic pollutants
Plastic waste and pollutants have devastating effects on marine life, causing the deaths of around 100 million organisms annually. Nearly a thousand species are impacted by marine pollution. Microplastic particles, known as PM2.5 present a grave threat to coral reef ecosystems. 7

3.Safeguarding the Ocean and Exploring Solutions

1.Mitigating the Carbon Footprint
Human-induced climate change significantly impacts the marine environment. By reducing your carbon footprint, you can control ocean acidification and minimize harm to coral reefs and marine life. Adopt eco-friendly travel practices, utilize energy-efficient lighting, limit elevator usage, employ fans instead of excessive air conditioning, and embrace clean energy solutions. Implementing these actions at home or in the workplace empowers individuals to make independent contributions to ocean conservation.

2.Preserving the Beach Environment
After your beach visit, kindly ensure to remove and recycle your trash responsibly. Consider lending your family or friends a hand in collecting litter left behind by others. Active participation as responsible citizens in global beach cleanup initiatives and ocean litter-free campaigns is crucial.

3.Minimizing Plastic Waste: A Call for Sustainable Practices
Decrease reliance on plastic by opting for reusable cups, bowls, and shopping bags while minimizing the use of disposable plastic items like bags and straws. Stay informed about plastic recycling programs and make an effort to reduce the consumption and disposal of single-use plastic products. By doing so, we can significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste entering our oceans.

4.Life Solutions is taking action to safeguard the marine ecosystem

The ocean, a shared heritage, demands global responsibility for raising awareness and safeguarding its environment on World Ocean Day. Lifesolutions, a water purifier provider, committed to providing cleaner water, fulfills its social duty by actively engaging in environmental protection initiatives.

Li Xia and the Transition into Summer

As spring fades away and the days grow longer, nature undergoes a remarkable transformation, signaling the arrival of summer. In the traditional Chinese calendar, this is marked by the first solar term known as Li Xia and it symbolizes the official commencement of summer.

Li Xia typically begins around May 5th each year, as the sun’s celestial longitude reaches 45 degrees. It is a time when the Earth absorbs more solar energy, warming the land and allowing plants to flourish. During this transitioning time, we should focus not only on increasing our sun protection but as well as the following:

Attention 1
Paying close attention to dehydration

Despite not yet experiencing the scorching heat, the May sun is already unleashing waves of intense heat. A glass of ice-cold water would be most welcome to prevent excessive perspiration for a day! During hot weather, people tend to sweat profusely and require more water, often feeling parched and in need of hydration. It is essential to replenish fluids promptly to avoid dehydration.1

Attention 2
Checking in with our emotions

Excessive heat can trigger a range of unwarranted behaviors, such as increased irritability, conflicts, arguments, and even public outbursts. This is attributed to the discomfort caused by high temperatures, which can lead to feelings of irritability and restlessness. In such situations, it is crucial to maintain adequate hydration levels by consuming more water, as this can play a pivotal role in stabilizing one’s emotional state. 2

Attention 3
Avoiding fatigue

The phenomenon of fatigue and the inclination to take summer naps can leave one with a sense of depletion. Persistent feelings of drowsiness, lethargy, and an inability to shake off the weariness can pervade one’s daily experience. While weather and seasonal factors contribute to these sensations, sudden bouts of fatigue, anxiety, irritability, or difficulties concentrating may actually indicate insufficient hydration within the body. In such instances, consuming a glass of fresh water can serve as a revitalizing elixir, reinvigorating both mind and body.3

1. Do you worry about safe drinking water during the rising temperatures?

In the face of scorching temperatures and hot weather, individuals frequently encounter challenges regarding their water drinking habits. Be aware that the residual chlorine present in tap water, while necessary for disinfection, emits a pungent odor and potentially poses a hazard to human health.4 Additionally, unsanitary pipelines may lead to secondary pollution during the water supply process, resulting in the accumulation of suspended particles, sediment, rust, and other harmful substances. In certain cases, even boiling the water may not fully eliminate toxic elements, such as heavy metals. 5

World Earth Day | Let’s Save the Earth Together

As the Earth completes yet another rotation around the sun, having existed for over 4.6 billion years, it continues to remain an indispensable factor in our very survival. Protecting the Earth is a crucial responsibility that we all share as inhabitants of this planet.

To raise awareness about pressing environmental issues and encourage environmental activism, World Earth Day is observed every year on April 22nd. This year’s theme, “Earth4All,” emphasizes the need for collective action toward creating a sustainable future where everyone has access to clean air, water, and a healthy environment. Let’s have a look at how we can contribute together to achieve this.

Let’s have a look at how we can contribute together to achieve this.

Protecting Water Resources and Ensuring Drinking Water Safety

As a leading expert in high-quality water purification systems, Life Solutions is committed to providing consumers with solutions that meet the highest standards. Our efforts to protect water resources and promote healthy drinking water are achieved through high-quality filtration products and impeccable services. We aim to promote China’s transition to excellent and healthy drinking water by collaborating with our partners and emphasizing the importance of corporate social responsibility. Moreover, we recognize our social responsibility and actively seek to create a positive impact on society by prioritizing environmental preservation in our business practices.

Increasing Marine Ecological Safety through Effective Plastic Recycling Strategies

As a provider of water purification systems, it is our responsibility to offer customers eco-friendly options that not only conserve energy but also minimize the use of plastic water bottles. The persistence of plastic in the environment is a major concern, with its long-term presence causing harm to soil and wildlife. Recent research by a global team, published in the journal Science, indicates that without effective measures, plastic waste on land and oceans could increase by a staggering 1.3 billion tons within two decades. As we strive to meet the demands of today’s consumers, it is imperative that we prioritize sustainable practices and take action to reduce the impact of plastic waste on the environment.

In order to gain a deeper understanding of the local environment and make positive contributions to marine life and ecosystems, Life Solutions collaborates with the Green Initiative on recycling programs. Our team of professionals dedicated an entire day to the collection and recycling of plastic waste along the Yangtze River, an experience that bears significant potential for positive social impact. Through our shared efforts, we are proud to have contributed to the protection of the river, wetlands, and the diverse fauna and flora that inhabit these ecosystems.

Saving Resource Consumption through Vegetarian Monday Initiative

Every vegetarian Monday can save 37500 liters of water! Reducing meat consumption can reduce water waste and energy and resource consumption.2 Vegetarian Monday, a movement initiated by Paul, Mary, and Stella McCartney in 2009, has emerged as a powerful tool to raise awareness about the harmful environmental effects of meat consumption. By reducing the amount of meat we consume, we can conserve water, reduce resource consumption, and combat climate change. This approach is not only a responsible choice for individuals but also holds significant potential to enhance the health and well-being of employees, further advancing Life Solutions’ mission. By emphasizing the positive impacts of Vegetarian Monday, we can encourage more people to join the movement and make meaningful contributions to the preservation of our natural resources.

Calling for the Protection of the Earth, through Educational Seminars

At Life Solutions, we remain dedicated to our corporate mission of promoting high-quality and healthy drinking water through exceptional customer service and sustainable solutions. To achieve this, we offer a range of educational lectures and seminars covering topics such as water quality, energy efficiency, and plastic pollution in the Asia Pacific region. We recognize the importance of addressing water scarcity and are committed to sharing our knowledge with our commercial and residential clients, employees, suppliers, volunteer organizations, and the public across China.

By prioritizing education and promoting awareness, we can empower individuals and organizations to make informed decisions that contribute to a sustainable future for our planet and our communities.

Reducing Resource Waste through Paper Recycling Programs

Paper recycling programs are designed to provide Chinese enterprises and companies with responsible means to recycle paper and promote awareness to reduce paper waste. By adopting these programs, we are not only saving paper but also conserving precious resources, including 800kg of renewable new paper, 4ms of wood, 400kg of coal, 500kW of electricity, and 470t of water per ton of waste paper.

As an environmentally conscious organization, we are proud to recommend sustainable solutions to corporate clients across China to encourage sustainable practices in their workplaces. Moreover, we have incorporated these environmental measures into our own internal office habits, further reinforcing our commitment to sustainable business practices.

At Life Solutions, we believe that protecting the Earth is not just a one-day event, but a continuous effort. On World Earth Day 2023, we urge everyone to take practical action and join hands to protect our earth and create a sustainable future for generations to come.

World Health Day丨How unsafe drinking water affects human health?

World Health Day is an annual event that is celebrated on April 7th. The day is set aside to create awareness of various health issues and to encourage people to make healthier choices. The event is organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health.

Especially on World Health Day, the hazards of drinking unsafe water are being emphasized.

How do these impact human health?

According to a survey by the World Health Organization (WHO), 80% of diseases and 50% of child deaths worldwide are related to poor drinking water quality. A well-known magazine reported that nearly 25% of Chinese people are drinking water that does not meet hygienic standards.1

Water contains pollutants, including organic pollutants and disinfection by-products from chlorination, which can persist for extended periods and pose significant harm to long-term exposed populations. The chronic toxicity of these pollutants is particularly noteworthy. Out of 2221 organic chemical pollutants detected in water globally, 765 are present in tap water. Among them, 20 are known carcinogens, and 23 are suspected carcinogens.2

The United Nations Health Organization’s estimate indicates that at present, 25% of the population experiences illnesses due to water contamination,3 which typically comprises chemical, physical, and biological pollution.

Biological pollution encompasses bacterial, viral, and parasitic contaminants, which can lead to water pollution and subsequently result in infectious diseases. Consumption or direct contact with polluted water can potentially cause illness. Physical pollution, on the other hand, comprises thermal, and radioactive pollution, while chemical pollution refers to the contamination of organic and inorganic compounds that can cause severe harm to human health, including acute or chronic poisoning, cancer, or genetic mutations. 4

World Water Day| Accelerating Change

World Water Day is celebrated on March 22nd each year and the United Nations has set the theme of World Water Day in 2023 as “Accelerating Change”. The significance of World Water Day is to raise public awareness on water conservation and strengthen the protection of water resources.

Water is an important natural resource and environmental factor that is indispensable and irreplaceable for the survival of all life and social and economic development. However, available water resources are very scarce and the world’s water resources are facing unprecedented threats. It seems that many water resources are abundant in total (including seawater, fresh water, groundwater, rainwater, ice), but more than 70% of the earth’s surface area is covered by the ocean and freshwater resources on earth only account for 2.8% of the total water volume, moreover, the total amount of freshwater available for human use only accounts for 0.34% of the total freshwater storage on earth.1

What is even more serious is the uneven spatial distribution of the only available freshwater resources with more than half of the world’s freshwater resources concentrated in more than a dozen countries. According to a report published by the World Water Institute in 2019, roughly a quarter of the world’s population faces a crisis without freshwater resources.2

Although our freshwater resources total 2.8 trillion cubic meters, accounting for six percent of the world’s water resources. However, due to the large population, China’s per capita water resources are very poor, with only 2,300 cubic meters of water per capita, which is only a quarter of the world average, moreover, we are one of the world’s poorest countries in terms of per capita water resources,3 so water conservation is urgent!

Water saving tips

  • When washing hands, face and teeth, do not keep the tap open, but use a container or cup to save 18 liters of water per person each time.
  • If the water heater at home is non-instantaneous, you can put a basin to catch cold water used for laundry and mopping.
  • Do not keep the shower head on all the time, you can intermittently open shower head when washing hair or apply shower gel.
  • When washing kitchen dishes, you can use paper towels or cloth to wipe off the oil firstly, which can reduce water consumption.
  • Regularly check the water tap and repair it in time when there is leakage.

Clean water, a condition for survival

The protection of water resources should not only start from water conservation, but also strengthen water pollution control. There are more than 20 countries with water shortages worldwide and more than 4.2 billion people live in environments lacking sufficient cleanliness and hygiene.4 Information from the World Health Organization shows that 25 million people die each year from drinking unclean water worldwide; 80% of diseases and 33% of deaths in developing countries are caused by drinking contaminated water.5

In China, drinking water mainly comes from groundwater and rivers, but 90% of the groundwater has suffered from different degrees of pollution, of which 60% is serious.6 Even if the tap water has been disinfected, the secondary pollution will still occur in transportation process because of old pipes and secondary water supply.

There are many safety hazards in drinking water, which have a subtle, far-reaching and lasting impact on human health. Boiling water for drinking sounds environmentally friendly and healthy, but the presence of viruses, bacteria, heavy metals and other harmful substances in the water will not disappear with high temperature boiling. So, the water purification equipment comes in handy.

Life Solutions

Life Solutions water purification equipment uses RO reverse osmosis filtration technology which can filter out 99% of impurities, rust, colloids, bacteria, and other harmful substances. In this way, it is able to ensure that you and your family can use water by feeling at ease.

Water pollution is the focus of attention around the world, although it takes long time and great efforts to improve water quality and it may be hard to change the status quo by ourselves, the water in the cup is at least decided by yourself.

International Consumer Rights Day – 315

March 15th
-International Consumer Rights Day-

International Consumer Rights Day is a global observance held annually on March 15th. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about consumer rights and promoting consumer protection around the world. The event was first established by the United Nations in 1983, with the adoption of the “UN Guidelines for Consumer Protection.” These guidelines were developed to promote fair business practices and protect consumers from fraud, scams, and other forms of exploitation. The day is observed in China through various activities such as consumer rights workshops, public information campaigns, and media events.

As consumers, we all hope that the quality of products we choose and purchase is of the best quality, free from defects and that the after-sales service is guaranteed.

At Life Solution, we are convinced that the failure to pass the product safety is a violation of integrity. Over the years, Life Solutions has won the industry as being a company that focuses on the safety of its customers.

The filter element selected by the Life Solutions purification equipment uses RO reverse osmosis membrane, which can remove 99% of pollutants (including heavy metals, pesticides, viruses, etc.) and provide clean and healthy drinking water.

03 Perfect service & after-sales guarantee

Perfect service and after-sales guarantees are two important aspects of customer satisfaction and loyalty in business and refer to providing exceptional customer service throughout the entire customer journey, from pre-sale to post-sale interactions. This includes responding promptly to customer inquiries, providing accurate information about products and services, being attentive and empathetic to customer needs, and providing quick and effective solutions to any problems or issues that arise.

After-sales guarantee, on the other hand, refers to the assurance that a business provides to its customers that their purchase will be supported and maintained over the course of its lifetime. This includes offering warranties, repairs, replacements, and other forms of customer support to ensure that the product continues to meet the customer’s expectations and performs as advertised.

Providing perfect service and after-sales guarantee can help businesses to build long-term relationships with their customers and create a loyal customer base. Customers who feel valued and supported are more likely to return for future purchases and recommend the business to others. Moreover, perfect service and after-sales guarantees can help businesses to differentiate themselves from competitors and enhance their reputation.

Life Solutions promises to continue to forge ahead, not only by investing resources in developing innovative and safe products but also by focusing on providing greater after-sales services by continuing to develop standardized and exceptional processes to support consumers throughout the entire product life cycle.

How to Meet the Demand for Quality Drinking Water in the Office

Clean water is essential for good health, and it’s even more critical in the workplace, where employees need to be hydrated to stay productive and focused. Installing a water filter in the office can provide many benefits, including better taste, improved health, and reduced environmental impact. In this article, we will explore the challenges of traditional methods to meet the demand for safe water in the office and the benefits of installing a modern water filtration system.

Boilers, water dispensers, and bottled water are common methods to provide drinking water to employees in an office. However, these methods have several limitations and safety hazards that can affect the quality of the water.

01 Water Boiler

While a water boiler is a common method of providing hot water in the office, repeated boiling can lead to the accumulation of impurities and harmful substances, affecting the taste of the water and posing health risks. Additionally, regular cleaning of the water boiler can be time-consuming and laborious.

02 Water Dispensers

Water dispensers require regular cleaning and maintenance to prevent the buildup of bacteria and other contaminants. If the dispenser is not cleaned and maintained properly, it can become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, which can lead to illness and other health problems.

03 Bottled Water

Using bottled water in the office has a significant environmental impact, as the production, transportation, and disposal of plastic bottles contribute to pollution, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions. Plastic bottles can take hundreds of years to decompose, creating long-term environmental problems. Additionally, bottled water takes up space, and can be expensive, particularly for large office spaces with many employees.

Here are a few benefits of using a water filtration system in the office:

Health Benefits

Water filters can also help to remove harmful contaminants that can lead to illness and other health issues. Some contaminants, such as lead, mercury, and bacteria, can be found in tap water and can lead to health problems if ingested on the long term. A water filter can remove these contaminants, providing employees with clean and safe drinking water.

Enviromental Benefits & Cost Saving

Using a water filter can reduce the environmental impact of bottled water, which is often transported long distances, packaged in plastic, and discarded after use. The cost of purchasing, transporting, and storing bottled water can add up quickly. Using a water filter can help reduce these costs, and contributes to a reduced carbon footprint, creating a more sustainable future.

Better Taste & Quality of Water

Water filters can remove impurities, such as chlorine, sediment, and other contaminants, that can affect the taste and smell of tap water. Filtering the water can also remove any excess minerals, which can create a hard and metallic taste, making the water more pleasant and refreshing to drink. Providing clean, refreshing water to employees can also encourage them to drink more water, leading to better hydration, increased productivity, and improved overall health.

In conclusion, installing a water filter in the office provides many benefits, including better taste and quality of water, improved health, and reduced environmental impact, as well as cost savings. These benefits can help create a healthier, more productive, and sustainable workplace that employees can appreciate and enjoy.

The water purification systems from Life Solutions can provide pure, clean drinking water at any time and place.

Do you suffer from a post-holiday syndrome?

Whether you are willing to accept it or not, the holiday is coming to an end and returning to work may be giving many of us the ‘holiday blues’. Are you one of those people who finds it difficult to adjust to the new schedule at work after the holidays? Does your body feel sluggish and has your metabolism slowed down?

Rest assured, you are not the only one. When the intense holiday activities are behind us, the emotional result is often not joy, but depression. You may feel as empty as the refrigerator that was previously filled with food worthy of a feast.

If you want to get out of the ‘post-holiday syndrome’ state but do not know how to recover, follow these simple but effective steps.

01 Increase your water intake

Do not wait until you are thirsty to drink water. When you feel thirsty, your body is already dehydrated. Therefore, make it a habit to consciously drink water throughout the day.
According to the “Dietary Guide for Residents of China”, adults should drink 1500-1700 ml of water per day, about 200 ml each time, and not more than 500 ml of water at one time. Excessive water drinking can increase the metabolic load of your kidneys.

02 Drink purified water

Pay attention to the quality of the water you consume. Remember that unfiltered water contains pathogenic microorganisms, bacteria, parasites, etc., which can cause gastrointestinal problems and endanger your health.

03 Reduce alcoholic and soft drinks

Many people replace water with soft drinks, believing that they, like water, help maintain the body’s vitality. Soft drinks are full of ’empty’ calories and often interfere with digestion and absorption of nutrients. Fresh, filtered water can achieve the effect of quenching thirst and contains no calories.

04 Pay attention to the water temperature

Consuming drinks that are too hot (65 ℃ and above) for a long period of time can increase the risk of esophageal cancer. The temperature of our inner esophageal mucosa is 36.5~37.2 ℃. Experts recommend that the appropriate temperature is between 10 and 40 ℃.

05 Do not drink water too quickly

When we are thirsty, especially when we are hot or after exercise, many of us drink water in large gulps. However, drinking water quickly can lead to hyponatremia or, more simply put, water intoxication. This occurs when water intake exceeds the kidneys’ ability to excrete water. Therefore, it is important to drink pure water slowly and in smaller sips.

Remember that water is the source of life. And consuming safe, filtered water should become your priority! At Life Solutions, we are always researching and developing the best filters to improve the quality of life for you and your family.

About our filters:

01 Fine filtration

The reverse osmosis system and high quality filter element can remove 99% of pollutants (including heavy metals, pesticides, viruses and bacteria) and provide clean and safe drinking water.

02 Instant cooling and instant heating

Our filters can be used directly for drinking and can heat up the water temperature in a very short time.

03 Our after-sales service

Life Solutions provides you with excellent maintenance services every year. Our recommendation is to replace the filter at least three times per year to enjoy safe and clean water.

This winter Life Solutions sends you warm greeting and wishes you a fantastic Year of the Rabbit!
